About Basketly

You have a view on the world. We help you invest in it.

What we do

Basketly lets you invest in a thesis, not just a ticker. Maybe you think Canadian energy is undervalued. Maybe you believe AI infrastructure companies will outgrow the apps built on top of them. Basketly turns that conviction into a real portfolio of stocks you own directly — curated by us, or built entirely by you.

We connect to your brokerage account through SnapTrade, a technology provider whose API lets us relay your buy/sell instructions to your brokerage with your explicit authorization. We never hold your money or securities — every trade executes inside your own account, and the stocks are always yours.

The gap we saw

ETFs are convenient, but they flatten every idea into a pre-packaged index. If you believe in energy but not every company in the sector index, an ETF can't express that. If you have a sharper thesis — battery supply chains over carmakers, builders of AI over users of AI — there's been no easy way to act on it without manually buying and tracking a dozen individual stocks yourself.

Basketly closes that gap. Every basket starts with a written thesis — the *why*, not just the *what* — so you know exactly what you're buying into before you invest a dollar.

Under the hood, this is direct indexing: instead of buying a fund that wraps a basket of stocks, you own each underlying stock directly in your own brokerage account. That unlocks two things a fund wrapper can't — full customization (add, drop, or reweight any stock in a basket) and the ability to sell an individual losing position for a tax-loss without touching the rest of your holdings.

Why we built this

Smallcase pioneered thematic basket investing for retail investors in India — letting people invest in ideas, not just instruments. North America had no real equivalent. Basketly brings that same spirit to US and Canadian markets, built around direct stock ownership and your own connected brokerage.

Our principles

💭

Thesis first, stocks second

Every basket — curated or custom — starts with a clear point of view. We never ask you to invest in something you don't understand or believe.

🔒

You own your stocks

Assets always stay in your own brokerage account. Basketly never custodies your securities. If we disappear tomorrow, your stocks are unaffected.

🧩

Direct indexing, not a fund wrapper

Every basket is a set of individually-held stocks, not shares of a fund. That means real customization — add or drop a stock, reweight anything — and the ability to sell one losing position for tax purposes without touching the rest.

👁️

Full transparency

Every basket shows you exactly what you own, what you paid, and why it moved. No black boxes, no hidden bundling.

Flat fees, always

We charge a flat subscription regardless of your portfolio size. A user with $500K invested pays the same as a user with $5,000.
